About

About me.  Well, I am now out of the rat race, having been part of it for the best part of the last 20 years.  About time too, I hear you say.

Having been on a carrot juice fast in March 2006, I came back to the real world armed with lots of information on the health benefits of raw food.  Since then I have changed from a wine drinking, meat and chocolate eating person to a a fully fledged vegan raw fooder.  The odd glass of wine here and there, but only high quality stuff, and even that doesn’t taste the way it used to.

The benefits have been huge, increased energy, less need of sleep and what every girl dreams of – weight loss.  Also my hair has got thicker, and I don’t seem to need make-up any more.  Next aim is to try conditioning my hair with wheatgrass as I hear that helps it revert to its original colour….

I hold monthly workshops in my home in Finsbury Park – the idea is to show people how easy it is to incorporate more raw foods into your daily life. More information on the workshops page.

I am also a Living on Live Foods Teacher, as trained and certified by Alissa Cohen.  I can therefore offer Level I training under her certification programme.

I recently completed a kitchen apprenticeship at The Tree of Life in Patagonia, Arizona, and now rejoice in the title of ‘Spiritual Live Food Instructor’.

Got all the work stuff out the way, what do I like to do to play?  Well, like most people I like hanging out with my friends (and now enjoy going to pubs again, now all that is needed is a ban on smoking right outside the pub door), clothes shopping, going for long walks, yoga, pilates, cycling…. and all the while trying to find time to learn as much as I possibly can about anything and everything!

Oh and experimenting in the kitchen with raw cookies and chocolate….

Hey there! I found your web site whilst browsing around raw foodie blogs on wordpress and then I realised I saw you at Suki’s chocolate party a month or two ago. I’ve been spurred on to a healthier existence recently and would be interested in your monthly workshops. Can you let me know when the next one is? Thanks! x

Hello Catherine! I am really pleased you have found so much energy and a new path following your fast at Karuna Retreats. That is the reason we run the retreats, to create the place for people to reevaluate their lives and health and you did it big time. Well done. I will be passing your course dates and info. on to our current fasters and let them know there is support available on the yummy raw food prep. end, in London at least! Sho x

    Hi Cath
I got wind of your website via Rene Oswalds’ I’m interested in buying chia seeds and dulse as I can’t seem to find them online in Britain. Do you have any available to buy?
    Thanks

Hi Catherine- have you heard about the new raw food ingredient- Baobab fruit powder? I’d love to meet up with you and tell you more about it. It is fresh, raw (but with an 18 month shelf life!!) and packed full of Calcium, Antioxidants, Vitamin C, Potassium, Magnesium.
    All the best,
    Rosie.

    Hi Cath

I am looking for a teacher to do a raw food workshop for a hen party I am planning, is this something you would be interested in?

If you could let me know that would be great.

    Thanks

Hi Zoe, yes I would be interested – when did you have in mind? And also – would you come to me – as I have all my equipment here, wouldn’t be able to carry it! Would you choose the dishes that you wanted? Maybe if you could email me some more details that would be useful! Thanks Cath
